BOSIET - Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training
(with EBS)
The aim of the BOSIET (with EBS) is to introduce delegates to the
specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations and to
equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for
travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter.
COURSE CONTENT
The
syllabus focuses on:
- Basic safety induction
- Firefighting and
self-rescue
- Helicopter safety and
escape
- Sea survival and First
aid
- Correct use of hand
held portable fire extinguishers
- Crawling over/under objects in low, Zero visibility
situations
- Preparations for a helicopter ditching and an emergency landing
- Using EBS –
emergency breathing system under the water
- Helicopter safety and
Escape
We will put the delegate
into the simulator representing helicopter body and make the delegate to go
through 6 exercises where the simulator would be ditched under the water
vertically and rotated and the objective is to escape through the window. These
are the most challenging exercises in the BOSIET Training.

Actions when mustering
and boarding a survival craft (TEMPSC) as a passenger during launching
operations
·
Donning
of a permanent buoyancy lifejacket and entering the water from poolside or at
height 3.3ft or 1m
·
Individual and group
sea survival techniques, to include: swimming, getting into Heat Escape
Lessening Position (HELP), wave-slap protection, towing, chain, huddle and
circle.
·
Boarding a marine
liferaft from the water
·
Fitting of a
helicopter rescue device and correct body posture during winching.
·
Immediate first aid
actions and Performing CPR on a manikin
